Jacob's Bio

My name is Jacob Godinez and I am excited to be teaching math and science at Academy of the Redwoods. I attended Chaffey Community College in Southern California graduating with Associate of Arts degrees in mathematics and the physical sciences. I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a major in Pure Mathematics. I received my single-subject teaching credential from Humboldt State University and completed my student teaching at Six Rivers Charter High School and Arcata High School.

While attending community college and university, I would spend the summers conducting field research at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory in Gothic, Colorado. After graduation, I decided to spend a few years traveling the Western United States and Europe, living in Colorado, Hawaii, the Netherlands and Germany. This experience helped me develop an appreciation for the beauty of nature and the importance of being able to adapt when things don’t go as planned. I like to travel during the summer and enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, backpacking, playing disc golf, basketball, cooking and baking.

I look forward to an amazing year working with the students and staff at AR.
