My name is Regina Salmon. I was born on an Air Force Base in the Philippines, and spent my early years in many places, until my dad retired and decided to settle in the small community of Hayfork, CA. I moved to Humboldt County in 1989 to attend the College of the Redwoods, Dental Assisting Program.
My interest in education started when my children were young, volunteering in their classrooms. In 2000, I took a position at Stanwood Murphy Elementary, in Scotia, as a Teacher’s Assistant. In 2005, I moved to Washington State and worked at Minter Creek Elementary as a Para-Educator for several years. After moving back here in 2014, I started my position for the Fortuna Union High School District, in the cafeteria, moving up to Food Service Manager the following year.
On my own time, I enjoy fishing (my favorite), cooking, gardening, playing the piano, traveling, and spending time with my family.
I am thrilled to start my new role as Administrative Assistant/Secretary at the Academy of the Redwoods this year. I have had the privilege to meet some of the students while working on the campus already. I look forward to meeting the rest of the students and parents soon, and welcoming them with a friendly smile and greeting to make their day a little brighter.
