From Principal King:
UPDATED COVID-19 PROTOCOLS FOR START OF CR SEMESTER
Dear AR Community,
It has been a fun and rewarding first two weeks of classes at AR! Gina and I have enjoyed meeting all of the AR students and I have been impressed by their maturity, adaptability, and resilience as we navigate ever-changing Covid-19 conditions and protocols. Additionally, I am constantly overhearing our students talking about current events and contemporary issues amongst themselves intelligently and respectfully--I am so proud to be associated with these young scholars!
There will be some changes next week to campus Covid-19 protocols as CR begins their semester and welcomes junior college students back to school. The following protocols apply to AR Students and are not necessarily the same for CR Students.
-Masks must be worn at all times while on campus. This includes outside. There are AR logo masks for sale in the AR Main Office for just $5!
-2nd, 3rd, and 4th Year students enrolled in CR classes who have a smartphone should download the CR ReadyEd Campus App (search "College of the Redwoods"), available free now on the Apple App Store, or on Google Play. The ReadyEd Campus App is ready to use on Monday, August 23rd. Students with the app can upload vaccination information if they want to, and will use the app daily to fill out a health screening form before they arrive on campus. Students who are vaccinated or symptom and exposure free will receive a green digital badge allowing them to be on campus. Parents, please remind your students to complete their ReadyEd Campus App health screening on their way to school. Students who receive an alternate badge must follow the guidance on the screen. You must inform the AR office if your student has been directed to return home and quarantine.
-Students with the ReadyEd Campus App will use their smartphone to scan into buildings and classrooms using the QR codes that are posted by the doors. This will assist with contact tracing and is a required action.
-Health screeners will be stationed at key entry points around campus to check digital badges. The health screeners will issue colored wristbands to first years, students without smartphones, or AR upperclassmen not enrolled at CR.
-It is very important that students are dropped off in the parking lot below the flagpole roundabout and the admin building so that students can efficiently encounter the health screeners before they reach their class. DO NOT DROP OFF STUDENTS AT THE SSC. We will not have wristbands and will send students back down to campus to get screened.
-White wristbands will be issued to vaccinated students (if they wish to attest vaccination status), and the following colors will convey successful health screening on the following days:
Monday - Blue
Tuesday - Orange
Wednesday - Red
Thursday - Yellow
Friday - Green
-AR teachers will be checking digital badges and wristbands at the beginning of first period M-F. CR teachers will be checking digital badges and wristbands at the beginning of every class.
-Free PCR (nose poke) Covid-19 testing will be available to any student or faculty member on campus between 9 AM and 12 PM Monday through Wednesday in the Athletic Training Center on the North side of the Gymnasium. If a student wishes to get tested during class they must arrange their departure ahead of time with their teacher and pick up a campus pass at the AR Main Office. All positive Covid-19 test results will automatically be sent to CR Public Safety Manager Kristy Seher, and MUST be reported to Principal King.
-If a student has experienced any outside-of-school exposure to Covid-19, please contact Principal King immediately. The student must stay home until we receive further direction from County Public Health.
