March 16th, 2020
Dear AR Community,
The Fortuna Union High School District administration has been monitoring daily updates from county, state and national networks regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time there remains no confirmed COVID-19 cases in Humboldt county or on any of our district campuses. Still, in an effort to help limit the potential transmission of the virus, on March 15th, at an emergency meeting, the Fortuna Union High School District Board voted to suspend instruction at all sites from March 16th- 27th. During this time we will work to prepare options for all students in the event extended distance learning is required. We expect to receive additional guidance from the state regarding K-12 school services this week. AR staff will be working the week of March 23rd and collaborating with the district to develop clear remote learning expectations and options for students who may or may not have access to the internet. While all instruction and activities are cancelled, we are committed to continuing to provide school lunch services beginning March 24th. There will be another update this Friday which will include food service information. AR is also participating in daily meetings with CR’s Emergency Operations Committee and will inform families of any updates regarding CR campus and instruction.

- March 23rd-27th AR and CR Suspension of Classes, Instruction, Activites

While we hope to reopen school as soon as possible, the situation is fluid and I appreciate your understanding as we adapt to this unprecedented situation. Our efforts focus on keeping our community safe and balancing competing concerns regarding the complications of school closure.
We are closely monitoring all appropriate resources and as we continue to learn more from our public health professionals it is clear that we have a significant role to play in a concerted public health response to curb the spread of COVID-19.
