Hi! My name is Chloe Young and I am an AR third year studying abroad in Sweden. For the past three months I have been having an absolutely amazing time in Sweden and I've even gotten pretty proficient in the Swedish language as well (so I apologize if my English has gotten a little rusty). I've mostly been doing a lot of exploration and travel around Sweden as well as making lots of new friends (but I still miss my buddies Latt and Luke back home! Love you guys lots). By now I've seen most of the south of Sweden and even a little bit of the north too, my host dad jokes that I've seen more of the country than most Swedes themselves. My favorite places to experience so far have been Sundsvall, Åre, Stockholm, Öland and of course my home in Segersäng Nynashamn. Everyone I have met here has been extremely supportive and caring towards me, especially my host family. At first it was weird to get use to living with complete strangers but we have all quickly gotten extremely close and stay up playing family board games or just talking almost every night. I have also been very lucky in making such amazing friends at school and with my Rotary club. I had a great time showing my friends how to really do a scary Halloween and in turn they gave me a traditional Swedish birthday (I'm 17 now yay!). Swedes have definitely shown themselves to be more indoor people which has lead to lots of cozy sleepovers with my friends but I also am very good at convincing them to come and mess around and explore in the cities with me. Honestly I have probably spent about 50% of my time in Sweden specifically hanging out in Stockholm, it's become my favorite place so far besides the Åre mountains. Other than my Swedish friends I have also met many others from all around the world such as Australia, South Korea, Italy, India, France, Japan, Canada and much more who are also doing a year abroad like me. Being able to experience so many different things and meet so many different types of people has really been lots of fun and they have each taught me a lot about different ways of life. I am so glad I have had this opportunity to grow and explore more to life and I am excited to continue to share as my year goes on!
