It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Principal of Academy of the Redwoods Early College High School in the Fortuna Union High School District. Having grown up in Humboldt County and attended local schools, I feel fortunate to be raising my own children in this area. I currently live in Eureka with my wife Alyssa and our three children. I grew up in the small community of Fieldbrook and attended McKinleyville High School. After graduating from Humboldt State University in 2003, with a BA in Mathematics and a minor in Business Administration, I entered the credential program and earned a Single Subject Teaching Credential. It was my pleasure to teach high school Mathematics for nine years − two years at Anzar High School in San Juan Bautista, CA and seven years at Ferndale High School. Prior to my current position I served as the Assistant Principal of Fortuna High School for two years. I have been fortunate to work with many amazing students and teachers throughout my career and I am grateful for all that they have taught me. I am proud to serve as an employee of the Fortuna Union High School District and to be the principal of a school full of amazing students and staff. While I find school administration rewarding, especially at an early college high school, my most enjoyable moments are the ones I get to spend working with our students on a challenging math problem.
