Dear Academy of the Redwoods Community,
It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Principal of Academy of the Redwoods Early College High School in the Fortuna Union High School District. Having grown up in Humboldt County and attended local schools, I feel fortunate to be raising my own children in this area. I previously served as the Assistant Principal at Fortuna High School. Prior to that, it was my pleasure to teach high school mathematics for nine years − two years at Anzar High School in San Juan Bautista, CA and seven years at Ferndale High School.
Students at AR excell due to their own academic dedication, the support of family and friends, and the diligence and support of the amazing AR teaching staff. Our unique educational program provides students the opportunity to complete college coursework as part of a cohesive high school academic program. Students earn a minimum of two years of college credit by the time they complete their four-year high school education. Founded on the values of respect, responsibility, and choice AR provides a supportive learning environment and school community that students and staff value and protect above all else.
I welcome those new to the school community and thank those who have been so welcoming to me. I look forward to working with everyone to ensure our students and program continue to thrive.
